Quiet and filled with a range of homes built from the 1930s to the ’60s, Redwood Heights has been drawing in families for generations. It speaks strongly to those who want a sense of community, while looking for a highly-rated elementary school and available activities for their children. Redwood Heights Elementary is both loved and well-rated - a big draw for young families. 

The neighborhood is diverse and filled with 2 and 3 bedrooms in a mix of ranch, bungalow, Prairie and even Storybook styles. The variation in the architecture adds a small town charm to the mix.

Centered around Redwood Road, the neighborhood is in the Oakland foothills with The Laurel District on one side, and Highway 13 on the other. It offers accessibility to lovely parks - both Redwood Regional and Joaquin Miller Parks are close by - but also to commuting, with the Fruitvale, Lake Merritt, and Rockridge BART stations being the closest. 

Drop by Jordan (aka Avenue Terrace) Park or the Redwood Heights Recreation Center to get a feel for how family-friendly Redwood Heights is. You’ll see a vibrant mix of people and activities, with something for ages from toddlers to seniors. It’s a good indicator of the general inclusiveness of the community.

Redwood Heights is not known for its nightlife scene - but that’s not really its focus. Residents have quick and easy access to nearby Laurel, Piedmont, and the Downtown for shopping and other activities, and are happy to maintain their mellow lifestyle in their community.
