Moving Boxes

I've spent the last month surrounded by boxes. After 7 years, we decided it was time to move on from our beloved Montclair home and try out a new neighborhood (don't worry, we're still in Oakland). Packing and moving with 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 very young kids has been incredibly stressful, but when we woke up the very first morning in our new Redwood Heights home, I felt so incredibly at peace.

Many of you know that I moved around quite a lot as a child, so our first home was the longest I had ever had the same address. I certainly shed a few tears as I thought of leaving the familiarity of that home. But I took solace in the fact that while the home stays behind, I can carry the memories created there with me for life. We're already making so many sweet new memories in our new home.

We have barely used our living room because we practically live in our backyard oasis (complete with pool, palm trees, and clutter). Our new neighbors have been warm and inviting. I look forward to my twice-a-day walk with our dogs getting to know the surrounding streets. The boxes will likely be around for a while longer, but even amidst the chaos, it feels like home.

Selling and buying at the same time can be really challenging, but so worthwhile. There are lots of different options we explored when we were considering this move and I'd be happy to help you explore your options too if you're facing a similar decision. Speaking as someone who just took the leap into her dream home, it's definitely worth it.

Are you in your dream home right now?

Let me get you there!
